Approaches
Biological Approach
The biological approach assumes that behaviour, cognition, and emotions:
- are controlled by biological systems and processes such as hormones and genes.
 - can be investigated by manipulating and measuring biological responses, such as eye movements and brain activity.

Cognitive Approach
The cognitive approach assumes that:
- behaviour and emotions can be explained in terms of cognitive processes such as language, thinking and memory.
 - similarities and differences between people can be understood in terms of individual cognition.

Learning Approach
The learning approach assumes that:
- conditioning helps to explain changes in behaviour.
 - social learning helps to explain changes in behaviour.

Social Approach
The social approach assumes that:
- behaviour, cognitions, and emotions can be influenced by other individuals.
 - behaviour, cognitions, and emotions can be influenced by group or social contexts.
